The Blues needed a win on Saturday, and they certainly got it, defeating the Sharks 6-3.

The San Jose Sharks entered Game 4 after coming off two strong wins in Games 2 and 3. Goaltender Martin Jones became the first goalie in the franchise’s history to win two consecutive playoff shutouts, but the confidence did not pass over to Game 4. After allowing four goals in 19 shots, the starter was replaced by James Reimer. Sharks coach Peter DeBoer expects a bounce-back effort in Game 5 without making lineup changes, but he hasn’t said who will be in goal at this time.

The St. Louis Blues also saw changes in the crease in Game 4, when Jake Allen entered the net in place of starter Brian Elliott. Coach Ken Hitchcock has already said that Allen will continue in net for Game 5 after he helped the Blues win perhaps their best game of the postseason. The change of goalie gives a fresh boost to the player himself and to the rest of the team, keeping each netminder alert and healthy for their next start.

Hitchcock remains quiet about the rest of his lineup for Game 5, but coming off a 6-3 victory gives the Blues much more confidence. The team ended its scoreless drought of 156:59 and then some, producing their highest scoring in the playoffs since their 6-1 Game 7 victory against the Dallas Stars.
