Maybe DC Comics isn’t the only publisher going back to the future this year …

If you’ve been reading superhero comics for at least five years, you probably remember Marvel NOW! It was an initiative that Marvel began in the fall of 2012 and was intended to mark a new direction of sorts for its line as a whole, one that included relaunching titles with new #1 issues and shaking up creative teams, character designs and more.

It was also followed by All-New Marvel NOW! That was essentially the same deal, except a few years later with different titles involved.

In any case, it seems what is several years old is new again, as Marvel announce today that Marvel NOW! is on the way again this fall. The idea would seem to be a way to catapult the company’s titles out of this year’s big event, Civil War II, which would make for a logical point to start or restart a whole bunch of things at once.

Here’s what Marvel had to say in its official press release:

"It all starts this Fall as the Marvel Universe charges forward into an ambitious new direction. As the industry’s top creators and hottest up-and-coming voices leave their mark on the world’s top Super Heroes, get ready for the most exciting and energetic comics on the stands! Prepare for all-new ongoing series, Earth-shattering status quo shifts, and an exciting new era of Marvel comics!Kicking off this bold publishing initiative is the free MARVEL NOW! PREVIEWS MAGAZINE, coming to comic shops on July 13th! This free, standalone magazine is your first look at the cataclysmic fallout of Civil War II and the landscape of the Marvel Universe to come. Packed cover-to-cover with huge reveals, new titles, and fresh creative directions, the MARVEL NOW! PREVIEWS MAGAZINE is your very first look at the hottest upcoming titles of 2016!"

Note that July 13 date for the preview magazine. That’s just a week before San Diego Comic-Con, where it can reasonably be assumed that Marvel will tease a lot more about Marvel NOW!
