22. Charlotte Hornets

PG. Kentucky. Tyler Ulis . 22. player. 170. The Charlotte Hornets are going to have a busy, busy summer with key players like Al Jefferson, Nicolas Batum, Marvin Williams and Jeremy Lin as free agents. Lin has a player option but is likely to opt-out, although he’s been public about wanting to stay with Charlotte. The Hornets don’t have a need for a point guard but Tyler Ulis could be a great third point guard on their roster if needed.
A lot of draft have Ulis ranging anywhere from 12-22 and while he has the skills, basketball IQ, and shot to succeed I worry about how much of a factor his size will be. He’s only 5-9 but he definitely showed his pick-and-roll prowess while at The University of Kentucky. Last season he put up gaudy numbers of 17.3 points and seven assists while playing in the back court with likely top-10 pick Jamal Murray.

He’s a defensive pest but at the NBA level he will be outsized on almost every single matchup which could be a bit of a liability in the early going of his career. Ulis has playmaking abilities both for himself and his teammates, and learning from a quality point guard like Kemba Walker could be invaluable for his growth moving forward.

To read more about Tyler Ulis <a href=
