2. San Francisco Giants Trade for Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Jeremy Jeffress

Almost every contending team is looking to add bullpen help to the mix at the MLB Trade Deadline. you can never have too many impact relief pitchers down there, and Brewers’ closer Jeremy Jeffress is going to be among the best available at the deadline this season.

The Brewers have found lightning in a bottle in the 28-year-old journeyman reliever, as Jeffress posted a 2.65 ERA as a primary set-up pitcher for the Brewers last season. This year, Jeffress has taken over as the team’s closer, and he has continued to have a ton of success.

With a 2.37 ERA and 11 saves in 12 opportunities, Jeffress has become a high-level closer in the Brewers’ bullpen. While they would not mind to keep him around, if a team comes along and makes it worth their time, I could certainly see the rebuilding Brewers shopping Jeffress away.

The San Francisco Giants have hit a hot-streak and are in a comfortable lead in the NL West. A solid offense coupled with a fantastic starting rotation has the Giants rolling. That being said, besides closer Santiago Casilla, the Giants bullpen is extremely up-and-down. They have had some nice performances, but there is not really anyone there who they can full count on in set-up situations.

The Giants are very likely to be in the middle relief market before the trade deadline, with Jeffress being an obvious target for the team. A move that makes sense for both sides, the Giants should aggressively pursue the Brewers’ closer.
