15 off-the-radar Heisman Trophy candidates for 2016

No. 14 – John O’Korn, QB Michigan
John O’Korn isn’t the best player on the Michigan roster. In fact, he probably isn’t even close.
With that said, the Wolverines are going to be (very) good in 2016 and O’Korn just might have the best quarterback tutor on the planet as his head coach. Jim Harbaugh worked wonders with Jake Rudock during the Iowa transfer’s only season in Ann Arbor, and now, Harbaugh has a chance to unleash the talents of O’Korn with high-quality weapons around him.
O’Korn, who arrives via transfer from Houston, threw for 28 touchdowns and more than 3,000 yards as a freshman, but he was unseated by Greg Ward Jr. (who is very, very good at football) and elected to leave the program in search of greener pastures. At Michigan, he will work in a QB-friendly system with two quality senior wide receivers (Jehu Chesson and Amara Darboh), a deep running game and arguably the best tight end in the country in Jake Butt.
No one is (rationally) expecting John O’Korn to light the record book on fire from a statistical standpoint during his maiden voyage with the Wolverines. However, Michigan is probably going to be a team that wins 10-plus games in 2016, and the quarterback will garner the lion’s share of the credit for that success.
Even if Michigan’s defense, headlined by Jabrill Peppers and Jourdan Lewis, will be the real reason that this team is incredibly dangerous.
