10. Dante Fowler tears ACL on first day of rookie minicamp (2015)

Players aren’t supposed to be lost for the year on the first day of rookie minicamp. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened to defensive end Dante Fowler, Jr., the Jacksonville Jaguars first-round, third-overall, pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.

In scouting reports, Fowler drew comparisons to Khalil Mack and was praised for his athleticism, physical traits, and “double-digit” sack potential. Mike Mayock said before the 2015 draft, “Fowler is the most gifted edge rusher in this draft class. He’s not just a 228-pound edge guy, he’s 261 pounds. He has a freaky first step and also sets the physical edge against the run game.”

The Jaguars are hoping Fowler can contribute this season. Fowler said of his first offseason practice with his team:

"“It felt good, you know, being able to make it through a practice and not have everybody all worried and scared and stuff like that. It just felt good to finally be back, especially with my recovery. Just really antsy to go out there and play again and be out there and have fun and be around my teammates and coaches.”"

In this year’s draft, the Jaguars invested heavily in their defense, picking up cornerback Jalen Ramsey in Round 1, and outside linebackers Myles Jack in Round 2, and Yannick Ngakoue in Round 3. Jack was projected to be a first-round pick, but due to injury concerns, he fell to the second round.
