1. Bill Romanowski

How can you tell if you were a toxic teammate? For starters, if you are listed on BET’s list of Most Racist Moments in Sports list, you probably weren’t the best teammate. And, if you aren’t up on your rhetorical devices, that was an example of litotes, a double negative used to emphasize a point. So, by “weren’t the best teammate,” I actually mean that he was the worst teammate in recent NFL history.

Terrorizing the league with his antics for over a decade, linebacker Bill Romanowski epitomizes the toxic teammate. He is a veritable greatest hits of toxicity that have included “I kicked you in the head, Larry Centers, because you deserved it, not because I am racist,” “I spit like a camel, right in yo’ face, J.J. Stokes,” “Romanowski says knock you out, Tony Gonzales” and “Let me punch you in the junk, Bryan Cox.” His number one hit was “Crush yo’ eye socket,” in which he assaults his teammate Marcus Williams so aggressively that Williams was forced into retirement.

These days, it appears that Romanowski is promoting supplements that address toxicity. Too bad he wasn’t taking them when he was in the NFL.
