Top 10 toxic teammates of the NFL
By Dani Bostick
6. Greg Hardy
The Dallas Cowboys finished their 2015 season at the bottom of the NFC East with only four wins. En route to that dismal finish, defensive end Greg Hardy provided endless distractions and drama for his former team. Now a free agent, he still hasn’t recovered from allegations of domestic violence and other buffoonery, including a sideline spat with one of his coaches (which owner Jerry Jones later tried to pass off as Hardy’s unique leadership style) and tacky comments about Tom Brady’s wife.
The spat with the assistant coach and comments about Tom Brady happened after Hardy returned from his 10-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the league. Instead of returning contrite, seeking to rebuild his reputation, he continued the toxicity, at the expense of his own reputation and also that of his team.
Hardy is not the only player in the league to bring down his team by running his mouth and engaging in astoundingly offensive off-field behavior. No longer affiliated with the Dallas Cowboys, Hardy was recently given a platform to spew his misogynistic, abuser rhetoric by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Though he isn’t anyone’s teammate right now, he is still in the league and memories of his toxicity are still fresh.
