3. Malik Beasley, SG, Florida State

Beasley has been rated by some scouts as the most explosive shooting guard in this year’s draft after a stellar Freshman season at Florida State, and the Jazz may want to take a look at him at number 12.  Though kind of small for a shooting guard, Beasley is the kind of knockdown shooter the Jazz really need, and he has the offensive ability to change a game.  Only 19 years old, he does need some time to develop other parts of his game, but he could be a big contributor if the Jazz take him.

At Florida State, Beasley averaged over 15 points per game, while pulling down over five rebounds.  Not much of a playmaker, he is viewed more as a shoot first type of guard, who really can do it all offensively.  Aside from his sweet outside touch, Beasley also is a slasher, who can get to the rim with the best of them.

Coming into the draft, Beasley has had some great workouts and has drawn comparisons to Wesley Matthews.  He won’t be the first option on offense, but he is the kind of complementary shot maker that every team needs in today’s NBA.  If he can work on his defense, he could be a sixth or seventh man right away.

The Jazz need help at the guard position, and Beasley makes sense at number 12.  He is a hard-nosed player, who plays bigger than his frame.  He could really help Utah next year.
