5 reasons Bo Scarbrough can win the 2016 Heisman Trophy
4) He has the skill set to follow in Derrick Henry’s footsteps
While we haven’t seen a lot of Scarbrough in actual game action, he has all the skills to be a Heisman caliber running back in his first year as a starter.
Scarbrough is just about the same size as Henry at 6-2, 240 pounds, with measurements that coaches could certainly dream on. Just like we saw with Henry, everyone is expecting Scarbrough to generate too much power for opponents to handle at the line of scrimmage, and he has the physical build to be a workhorse type of running back as well.
However, Scarbrough may have the 2015 Heisman Trophy winner beat in some areas. To go along with his 475-pound bench press and 540-pound squat, Scarbrough has been clocked running a 40-yard dash right around 4.4 seconds.
That combination of size and speed is going to give Scarbrough the ability to break tackles at the line of scrimmage and elude defenders at the second level. In addition, Scarbrough is expected to add a different wrinkle as a solid pass catching option out of the backfield.
Scarbrough has the type of athletic gifts that don’t come along very often, and the sky’s the limit should he live up to his full potential in 2016.
