3. Patrick McCaw, SG, UNLV

Another prospect with excellent physical tools is UNLV’s Patrick McCaw. The 6-7 guard, measured in with a lengthy 6-10 wingspan at the NBA Draft Combine in May and possesses solid quickness. He experienced a big growth spurt throughout high school, so he has yet to fill out his slender frame, weighing in at 181 pounds. With added muscle mass, however, McCaw should be able to defend multiple positions comfortably at the next level.

Unlike Brown, McCaw did showcase plenty of his defensive potential while at UNLV. The shooting guard prospect averaged 2.8 steals per 40 minutes as a sophomore, the third-best mark among college players in the 2016 draft. He has good instincts jumping into passing lanes and his long arms allow him to corral passes or bother his opponent’s dribble. McCaw also has solid lateral quickness and shoot be able to stay in front of players at all three of the perimeter positions.

McCaw does offer the same defensive rebounding of Brown, averaging just 5.3 rebounds with a defensive rebound rate of 10.8 percent for his collegiate career, but his ability to end possessions by creating turnovers should be highly valued by NBA teams.
