FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy baseball lineup-June 7
High Salary SP
Zack Greinke-Arizona Diamondbacks (10,300): Greinke is coming off one of his best starts of his first season with Arizona. He held the Astros scoreless for seven innings last Thursday striking out a season-high 11. He has at least seven strikeouts in seven of his last 11 starts and has won five of his last six starts. Greinke is in a good matchup against the Rays, but it has been a struggle for him pitching at home with most of his best outings coming away from Chase Field. Greinke is a big name and can turn in a dominant game, but his home numbers are cause for a bit of concern in sinking over 10K into him tonight. ∗∗
Cole Hamels-Texas Rangers (10,000): I actually feel more confident with Hamels than Greinke tonight based on matchup and opponent. Hamels and the Rangers are at home where they are 22-9 coming into tonight’s game. He’ll face the Astros who lead the MLB in strikeouts. When he took on the ‘Stros three starts ago, Hamels was superb striking out 11 in eight innings on his way to a 66-fantasy-point performance. He has at least 27 fantasy points in five of his last six starts and has improved his ERA to 3.39 with a 1.32 WHIP. He’s averaging over a strikeout per inning, and at home against the Astros he should be lined up for another good game tonight.∗∗∗∗
Jacob deGrom-New York Mets (9,800): DeGrom hasn’t picked up a win since April although most of that is due to lack of run support. He has been especially dialed in lately with at least seven K’s in each of his last three starts. In his last outing he fanned ten White Sox while allowing just one run but took a hard-luck no-decision in a game the Mets lost late. He has four quality starts in his last five outings, and he’ll take his impressive 2.62 ERA and 1.16 WHIP to the mound as he faces the Pirates for the first time this season. ∗∗∗
Kyle Hendricks-Chicago Cubs (8,500): Hendricks gets a great matchup against the Phillies tonight who are second-to-last in runs scored in the Major Leagues and were shut down last night by Jon Lester. Hendricks will look to continue their offensive struggles tonight after picking up back-to-back wins in his last two starts to get to 4-4 on the year. Both wins came in impressive outings as he pitched a complete game against the Phillies striking out seven and allowing just one run and then allowed just two runs on three hits in eight innings to the Dodgers. He totaled 57 and 48 fantasy points in those two outings, and he’ll look to put together another big game tonight even though he’s on the road. He doesn’t have the elite strikeout stuff of the names above him on this list, but he does have a good matchup and some positive momentum as he takes the hill tonight.∗∗∗
