First Baseman

High-Salary Option: Joey Votto-Cincinnati Reds (4,700)Votto helped get the Reds a walkout win last night going 2-5 with a double and a homer on his way to 30.7 fantasy points. He has been heating up lately starting the month 7-22 (.318) with three doubles, a pair of homers, four RBI, and six walks. He has a great career history against tonight’s starter Jaime Garcia coming into tonight’s action 12-35 with three doubles, a homer, and six RBI with a career OPS against Garcia of .967. Votto is worth his big price tag tonight.∗∗∗

Mid-Range Option: Chris Carter-Milwaukee Brewers (3,700): Carter went yard twice last night for the Brewers and is in another good matchup against the struggling Jesse Hahn.  Carter has 16 homers on the war after his monster 34 fantasy points last night, and he’ll look to keep mashing at home where 12 of his 16 long-balls have come. Carter doesn’t hit for great average (.227) but he’s a boom-or-bust play in a good matchup tonight coming off a big night last night.

High-Value Option: C.J. Cron-Los Angeles Angels (3,300): Cron didn’t start in the three games the Angels played in Pittsburgh, but he has now hit safely in each of his last seven starts including a pair of multi-hit performances and a two-home-run game.  Cron has struggled this year against lefties, so it’s a good thing he’s taking on Nathan Eovaldi tonight.  He’s hitting .271 against righties this season and four of his five homers have come against RHP.∗∗

High-Value Option: Adam Lind-Seattle Mariner(3,000): Lind will likely get the start again tonight against the Indians’ RHP Carlos Carrasco.  Lind had a couple hits last night after going 0-12 to start the month.  He has hit well this season at SafeCo Field where he has hit five of his six home runs and is batting .279 as opposed to just .222 on the road.  If you have to take a cheap flier at 1B, he’s the cheapest I would feel comfortable with going into tonight’s games.
