While Ben Simmons and Brandon Ingram are locks to go No. 1 and No. 2 overall in the 2016 NBA Draft, the competition for the No. 3 pick is wide open and the Boston Celtics could go in a variety of ways with their draft pick.

While the consensus would be that the Celtics would take top international prospect, Dragan Bender, they might feel safer taking a more proven talent out of college and someone they feel can have an impact right away.

One of those players that executives around the league feel has the potential to be a great player in this league and a star is Kentucky combo guard Jamal Murray. While the Celtics have a good number of guards on the roster already, Murray would be an immediate upgrade and would allow the Celtics to make moves with their other guards on the roster.

He’s already very mature for just 19 years old, which sort of resembles Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker, who had the same things said about him coming out of school last season.

The good thing about Murray is that even though he is a combo guard, his size allows him to play both positions just fine and he has a shot that is coming together nicely. This is a player that teams will regret passing on if they don’t take him.

In Boston, Murray could step in and help Isaiah Thomas shoulder the load of scoring the ball.
