First Baseman

High-Salary Option: Edwin Encarnacion-Toronto Blue Jays (3,700): The Blue Jays DH had a rough road trip to Boston and Detroit going just 3-20 although two of those three hits did leave the yard.  He’ll be glad to be back home tonight against Baltimore as he faces Tyler Wilson.  Encarnacion is hitting better at Rodgers Centre than away, so I think he could be set up for a bounce-back night tonight.

Mid-range Option: Joey Votto-Cincinnati Reds (3,400)Votto has multiple hits in each of the first two games against St. Louis and is hitting a very nice .346 (9-26) to start the month of June.  He hasn’t had much career success against Adam Wainwright but the Cards’ starter hasn’t been his dominant self this season.  That could open the door for Votto and the Reds to stay scoring runs at home tonight. So far in this homestead, Cincinnati’s lineup has scored at least six runs in each of their five games which is the main reason I’m not avoiding the matchup with Wainwright tonight.∗∗∗

Mid-range Option: Matt Adams-St. Louis Cardinals (3,400)Adams has hit in eight straight games with multiple hits in each of his last three.  He hit a home run yesterday and drove in three runs on his way to 31.9 fantasy points. Adams is in a lefty-lefty matchup tonight but Brandon Finnegan isn’t worth avoiding especially when you consider that Adams is actually 10-25 (.385) against southpaws this season.∗∗∗∗

High-Value Option: Brandon Moss-St. Louis Cardinals (2,900): Moss may not get the start tonight based on the lefty-lefty matchup, but he’s been red-hot enough that I think he should be in the lineup.  Moss has hit four homers in his last four games after hitting a pair of long balls last night totaling 43.9 fantasy points after 33.9 fantasy points in his last game which was last Saturday. Double-check the lineup, but if he plays he’s with a look given his current form.
