5. Clifford Robinson, 1989, No. 36 overall pick

Clifford Robinson is the old head on the list, but after being selected 36th by the Portland Trail Blazers he played 18 seasons in the NBA, making the playoffs in 17 of those seasons! The 6-10 Robinson was a stretch four before it was the en vogue term in the NBA.

Uncle Cliff entered the NBA with a perfect situation as the Blazers were a team on the brink of greatness led by Clyde Drexler. Robinson got a taste of that greatness very early as the Blazers made the NBA Finals two of his first three seasons in the league, however they lost both — to Detroit (1989) and Chicago (1991).

After earning the Sixth Man of the Year award in 1992-93, Cliff earned a starting spot with Portland and was an NBA starter until the ripe age of 38. His career numbers ended up at 14.2 points and 4.6 rebounds while shooting 44 percent from the field and 36 percent from the land of plenty. And who can forget the look on his face during the famous Jordan shrug picture.

Robinson made the headband cool, he was a slender shooter who was unafraid to pull the trigger from deep — in short, NBA fans would both love and hate Robinson in today’s NBA.
