Cornerback Leon Hall has put together a fantastic nine-year NFL career, all with the AFC North’s Cincinnati Bengals. Hall was a fourth round pick by Cincinnati in the 2007 NFL Draft out of the University of Michigan and has been a focal point of the Bengals’ defensive backfield for the last decade.
Despite still being a productive player into his early 30s, Hall has not received a new deal to re-up with the Bengals in 2016. In 2015, Hall played in 14 games (starting in four) all over the Bengals’ defensive backfield. He had two interceptions and a touchdown, eight pass deflections, and 44 total tackles.
In his nine-year NFL career, Hall has started 105 of his 121 games for the Bengals, picked off 26 errant passes for 261 yards and three touchdowns. He has deflected 112 career passes, forced five fumbles, recovered two, and has 366 career tackles.
While he is past his prime as a solid NFL defensive back, Hall can still provide great veteran leadership in a rotational role for an NFL defense trying to vie for NFL playoff contention. Hall has been an important piece on a Cincinnati defense that has made the AFC Playoffs five straight seasons.
At 31, Hall still probably has a few more years of high-end NFL productivity before calling it a career. He remains the best veteran defensive back still on the market and would be a welcome addition to any of the 32 teams he ultimately signs with.
