During Oakland Raiders’ OTA’s, franchise quarterback Derek Carr is seen making a terrific one-handed catch from Pro Bowl outside linebacker Khalil Mack.

It’s been a very long time, but the Oakland Raiders are about to be a great football team once again. Since the passing of late owner Al Davis a few years back, the Raiders have done a fantastic job of drafting high-end players.

On display in the last day of organized team activities (OTA’s), fellow 2014 NFL Draft picks quarterback Derek Carr and outside linebacker Khalil Mack showcase just how athletically gifted both Pro Bowlers are. Mack throws a strong pass to Carr who makes a great one-handed grab to impress his Oakland teammates.

The Raiders, along with the AFC South’s Jacksonville Jaguars, feel like two teams in the AFC most likely to end lengthy playoff droughts and contend for playoff berths this fall. While Jacksonville may still be a year or so away, the Raiders are ready to win now, having both the roster and the coaching staff to do so.

In the AFC West, defending Super Bowl Champion Denver Broncos will have to deal with the fallout of several key free agents leaving the Mile High City and a quarterback situation that is about as bad as any team will face this offseason.

The San Diego Chargers aren’t expected to do much after going 4-12 in 2015, finishing with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. As this time, the Raiders’ biggest challenge in the AFC West is easily the hated Kansas City Chiefs, who should make the AFC Playoffs and are a dark horse contender to represent the AFC in Super Bowl LI.

While we shouldn’t expect to see Mack and Carr connect on a pass this NFL season, both will have to play at a very high level again this fall to end Oakland’s 13-year NFL Playoffs drought. Keep an eye on the Raiders this season. They might have themselves their best season in well over a decade.
