Shortstop

High-Salary Option:  Aledmys Diaz-St. Louis Cardinals (3,600): Diaz has been a very consistent option behind Matt Carpenter in the two-hole in the Cardinals attack. He’s hitting .322 on the season with eight homers and has hit safely in eight of his last ten games.  It’s not a great matchup tonight against Gerrit Cole, but Diaz did go 1-3 with a double when he faced Cole earlier this season.  With Matt Carpenter possibly out after jamming his finger last night, Diaz will look to pick up the slack at the top of the order for St. Louis.

Mid-Range Option Xander Bogaerts-Boston Red Sox (3,500): As long as the rain holds off in Minnesota, Bogaerts will be a good play against the Twins and Tyler Duffey. Bogaerts went 0-4 on Wednesday against Madison Bumgarner and he Giants but is still hitting .340 on the season with six homers, eight stolen bases, 36 RBI, and 44 runs scored.  He is a key piece of one of the best offenses in baseball, and he remains very affordable despite his good numbers.

Mid-Range Option: Gregorio Petit-Los Angeles Angels (3,000): Petit finally cooled off last night against the Yankees going 0-3 with a hit-by-pitch.  He’s still 10-26 (.385) in June with six doubles, a homer, and five RBI. Tonight, he and the Angels come home after their long trip to face the Indians and Corey Kluber in LA tonight.

High-Value Option: Alcides Escobar-Kansas City Royals (2,200)Escobar is crazy-cheap tonight, but he has been hitting horribly lately and in what looks to be a bad matchup.  He is just 4-33 so far this month for a ugly .121 average. He did get one of those four hits in his last game which was Wednesday in Baltimore. Tonight, he has to deal with Chris Sale and the White Sox, but it’s actually not a bad matchup for him since he is 21-56 (.375) against the ChiSox Ace in his career.  He’s high-risk due to his recent struggles, but he is still hitting leadoff for the Champs and their whole lineup needs something to get it going back in the right direction.
