5. He can create the highlights voters love

As mentioned in the opening, the Heisman Trophy voters love big highlights as much as they love the big stats. Those are two of the most glaring reasons that offensive players have dominated the award for nearly twenty years now.

Defensively, though, there are two kinds of highlights that can can generate tons of love: big interception returns and great quarterback sacks.

For Myles Garrett, the sacks will come, and they should come in bunches during the 2016 NCAA season.

Those sack totals are also numbers that stat nerds absolutely love. That’s the reason why the most important positions outside of quarterback are usually left tackle, and of course, a pass rushing defensive end.

Garrett is that type of end that teams covet, as evidenced by his 22.5 sacks in two season for the Aggies. He also shows great proficiency at stuffing the run as his numbers indicate with his 108 total tackles (32 of which went for a loss).

The junior defensive lineman is quick enough to get to the ball carrier, strong enough to overpower his blocker, and explosive enough to create enough highlights to get national attention during what should be his final season in the NCAA.
