Michael Carter-Williams. 15. player. 89.
Original pick: Giannis Antetokounmpo

Wait, are we just getting to the 2013-2014 NBA Rookie of the Year? Yes, you read that correctly.

Ironically, Michael Carter-Williams is already on the Milwaukee Bucks, though he did not arrive there via the draft. Philadelphia allowed MCW to flourish as a rookie because of a fast-paced system that allowed him to accumulate counting stats, but from an efficiency standpoint, Carter-Williams hasn’t been very good during his three NBA seasons.

The great majority of his issues can be traced back to a broken jump shot. Carter-Williams holds a career true shooting of 47.7 percent (yikes) that is accompanied by a 25.5 percent mark from beyond the three-point arc. Though it is possible (see Rubio, Ricky) to become a functional starting point guard without a jump shot, Carter-Williams also happens to be vastly overrated as a defender (largely due to his size) and his jumper has been so poor that it overshadows his other characteristics.

On the bright side, Carter-Williams remains only 24 years old and there is a body of work and physical profile to work with depending on where he lands next. His future prospects as an upper-tier starter are probably gone, but Carter-Williams could be a nice piece to a backcourt in the future, especially if he could approach being a league-average shooter at some point.
.
