2. Adam Scott

It is tough to name someone who is a Major Champion as a dark horse, but that is exactly what Adam Scott is this week. While he is undoubtedly one of the better talents in the sport, his name is usually not mentioned with the likes of Jason Day, Jordan Spieth, and Rory McIlroy. Entering the tournament after a few weeks off from competitive play, it could be a perfect storm for Scott.

Last year, Scott finished T4 at the Open, which was his second straight top 10 finish at a US Open. The 2013 Masters Champion, Scott is currently ranked number 8 in the world, and has the perfect skill set for this course. He is one of the more elite golfers at placing the ball close to the pin, which will be needed on these slick greens this week.

Scott played in the US Open in 2007, the last time Oakmont hosted, though he failed to make the cut.

A former world number one, Scott will be paired with the current number one ranked player in the world, and fellow Australian Jason Day for rounds one and two. South American Louis Oosthuizen will be the third in this feature group.

The three will tee off at 2:20 pm ET in round one.
