Third Baseman

High-Salary Option: Nolan Arenado-Colorado Rockies (4,300): When it comes to high-salary 3B, Arenado remains my go-to play especially when the Rockies are at home like they are again tonight.  Arenado is hitting .309 at Coors Field this season with 11 homers in 110 at-bats and an OPS of 1.069.  Tonight, he’ll take on Nathan Eovaldi, and he should produce plenty of fantasy points in the rarified air in Denver.

Mid-range Option: Martin Prado-Miami Marlins (3,100): Prado had been scorching hot in the #2 spot of the Marlins order and went 3-3 with a homer and three RBI last night in San Diego. He raised his average for the season to .332 and is 15-28 (.536) over the last week.  He doesn’t offer speed or elite power (his home run was only his second of the season), but he is getting on base with regularity and part of a productive lineup in a solid matchup tonight in San Diego. Prado will take on lefty Drew Pomeranz tonight which should only help his chances since he is 19-51 (.373) this season against LHP.∗∗∗∗

Mid-range Option: Matt Duffy-San Francisco Giants (3,000): If you only have 3K at 3B, check out Matt Duffy who has hit safely in seven straight and went 3-4 last night with a pair of RBI and a stolen base against the Brewers. Duffy is 8-22 (.364) this month with a homer and five RBI  and has raised his average to .247 for the season. Matt Garza is a wildcard tonight against San Francisco, but Duffy is 1-3 with a homer against him, and I think the Giants will knock him around in his first start of the season especially after they piled up 11 runs last night at AT&T Park.∗∗∗

High-Value Option: Kelly Johnson-New York Mets (2,300)The Mets acquired Kelly Johnson again this year and the veteran utility player is already contributing.  He has played in all three games since rejoining New York and has gone 4-9 with two doubles and two runs scored.  He and New York are back at Citi Field tonight as they face Juan Nicosia and the Pirates. Johnson is a solid cheap play since New York will be counting on him to help plug their holes due to numerous injuries. ∗∗
