NBA Rumors: 5 replacements for Kevin Love in Cleveland
By John Buhler
It’s amazing what Golden State’s Andre Iguodala had to sacrifice to be a champion with the 2014-15 Warriors. Iguodala was the star player with the Philadelphia 76ers before The Process. He would start on every other team in the NBA and might be the best player on roughly have of the clubs in the NBA today.
Instead, Iguodala has carved out a most crucial role with the juggernaut Warriors. He comes off the bench as Golden State’s sixth man and is the key component in their Death Lineup at the stretch four. His cooperation in Steve Kerr’s system has allowed the Warriors to emerge as one of the greatest teams in NBA history.
So how does Iguodala stand as a better part of the Cavaliers’ big three than Love? He does everything that James wanted Love to do when Cleveland acquired him in the Wiggins trade: rebound, shoot threes, and play championship caliber defense.
Nobody in the NBA does a better job of covering James one-on-one than Iguodala. He’s a NBA Finals MVP for a reason. With him playing alongside James instead of against him, Cleveland’s new big three of James, Irving, and Iguodala not only wins the East effortlessly, but probably beats any team it faces coming out of the Western Conference.
