NBA Rumors: Bulls ‘actively open’ to trading Derrick Rose
By Josh Hill
The Chicago Bulls are open to talking to teams about trading Derrick Rose.
It has been a rough half-decade for former MVP Derrick Rose. He was looking to be what Steph Curry has now become back in 2011 but he fell off the face of the earth thanks to injuries over the years.
Instead of being the next great superstar in the NBA, Rose is on the infuriating ‘What-if’ list of wasted and lost potential. There’s still something left in the tank though, and the Bulls are banking on other teams thinking the same as they open up trade talks.
According to Steve Kyler from Basketball Insiders, the Bulls are open to actively shopping Derrick Rose.
"League sources in Italy say the Bulls are actively open to moving guard Derrick Rose and that seems to be the first choice rather than shopping Butler."
This doesn’t mean that a trade is going to happen but you have to believe that Chicago will try to exhaust all trade options with Rose before conceding defeat with Butler.
Also, keep in mind that the report is that the Bulls are open to actively shopping Rose and aren’t doing so at the moment. The Bulls preferred option is to trade Rose and keep Butler — which is a no-brainer.

Chicago won’t be rushing a trade, but the idea that the team will move Rose is more believable than the idea that they will move Butler to Minnesota or anywhere else. These things take time, so don’t be surprised if the trade talks extend beyond the draft and bump up against the start of the season much like the prolonged Kevin Love trade talks did two years ago.
