The Utah Jazz are close to being a solid team in the NBA’s Western Conference. They’ve got an exciting young team and a strong head coach in Quin Snyder. Frankly if the Jazz had any sort of competency in their backcourt last season, Utah would have made the NBA Playoffs as high as maybe the No. 6 seed.

One way that the Jazz can upgrade their atrocious backcourt over night is to orchestrate a trade with the Bulls for Butler. Utah has four picks in the 2016 NBA Draft, including No. 12 overall. It will take at least this year’s No. 12 pick, a future first round pick, and maybe two key rotational players to pry Butler away from the Bulls.

However it could be worth it for Snyder’s Jazz who are very much ready to hold their own in the Western Conference Playoffs. They need just a boost of explosiveness to get them over the top and Butler would almost certainly provide that.

Besides a myriad of draft picks, getting Butler would to Salt Lake City would almost have to include one of these three players in the deal: Gordon Heyward, Derrick Favors, or Rudy Gobert. Even then, it still will take another rotational piece to pull off the trade for Butler.

While the price for Butler is steep for the Jazz to pull off this trade, if Utah is able to make a deal for Chicago’s shooting guard, Utah becomes a Western Conference Playoff team capable of winning a first round series immediately over night. With the great home court advantage the Jazz have in Salt Lake City, the Jazz could have a great team for years with Butler as their star.
