Noah Vonleh. 20. player. 81.
Original pick: Bruno Caboclo

When the Raptors drafted Bruno Caboclo with the number 20 pick, it was one of the more memorable moments in recent draft history. The reason? No one knew who he was, and the one person who did (ESPN analyst Fran Fraschilla) referred to Caboclo as being “two years away from being two years away”.

Needless to say, Toronto would probably like a do-over with this pick, and Noah Vonleh would be an upgrade, even if things haven’t gone according to plan for the former Indiana power forward.

Vonleh has struggled mightily in his first two seasons, posting a 47% true shooting and failing to average double-figures in scoring (8.7 points) or rebounding (9.4) even on a per-36 minute basis. On the bright side, the talented power forward will be just 21 years old to begin his third NBA season, meaning that there is still room for development, but the early returns have been fairly ugly and that absolutely has to be noted.

Vonleh gets the benefit of the doubt based on his age and, frankly, his production level warrants a much lower slot in this particular draft. Fortunately, he’s still a better investment than the great Bruno Caboclo.
. PF. Indiana
