2016 NBA Draft: Best Floor Generals
By Chris Stone
2. Kris Dunn, PG, Providence
Providence’s Kris Dunn likely would have been a lottery pick in the 2015 NBA draft, but the 22-year old opted to return to school to hone his craft. The reason? He didn’t feel NBA ready. In an age of one-and-done prospects and amid incredible pressures to play in the NBA as soon as possible, Dunn chose another route, staying in school to develop his game so that when he does join the league, he’s ready to play right away. Few prospects have a similar perspective.

During his final year at Providence, Dunn proved himself to be the best point guard in the 2016 draft class. Not only is he a terror on the defensive end, but the Friars’ guard is also an impressive playmaker on offense. His 7.6 assists per 40 minutes are the second best among college point guard prospects and his 41.8 percent assist rate was the eighth best mark in college hoops last season.
Dunn’s biggest red flag is his turnover rate, which was 20.9 percent in his final year. However, he played with just one other NBA prospect (Ben Bentil) as a junior and with better teammates around him, Dunn should be able to force the issue less in the NBA.
