High Value SP

Bartolo Colon-New York Mets (7,300): Colon has been a remarkably reliable option as a value play for fantasy baseball although his strikeouts have ticked down a bit this season.  Still, he held the Nationals, Dodgers, Marlins, and Brewers to two runs or fewer in his last four starts, so he should be able to do the same tonight against the Pirates in the pitcher-friendly confines of Citi Field.

Colon has a 2.73 home ERA this season and his strikeout numbers have been better at home as well. He doesn’t have as high a ceiling as some of the other available options, but he usually finds a way to get the job done.

Eduardo Rodriguez-Boston Red Sox(7,000): The cheap starting pitchers are all extremely risky tonight, but the one with the most upside is Eduardo Rodriguez even though he hasn’t found last season’s form yet since his return from the DL.

He is in a bad matchup against the Orioles, but he did have a quality start against them in his first start of the season on May 31 holding them to just six hits and two runs in six innings.  E-Rod has struggled with walks and homers in his last couple of starts, but if he gets those back under control he could be the steal of the night on the mound.
