Third Baseman

High-Salary Option: Josh Donaldson-Toronto Blue Jays (4,300): Donaldson is over 1,000 more expensive than any other 3B tonight, but he may be worth it given his recent numbers.  Donaldson is 10-27 over the last week with three doubles, a triple, two home runs, and 10 RBI.

He has homered in each of the last two games against the Phillies and will look to close out the four-game home-and-home with another big game tonight.  He is definitely spend, but he is the most low-risk of any 3B if you can scrape together the salary to afford him.

Mid-range Option: Alex Rodriguez-New York Yankees (3,100): The Yankees get the DH spot back after their series in Colorado as they head to Minnesota and take on the Twins.  Rodriguez has cooled off after a hot start to the month coming off the DL, but he and all the Yankees catch Kyle Gibson of the Twins at a good time after he has given up 12 runs in his last two starts to the Nats and Red Sox.∗∗

Mid-range Option: Jung Ho Kang-Pittsburgh Pirates (3,000): Kang has his streak of nine straight starts with a hit snapped last night at Citi Field as he went 0-4 in the Pirates’ 11-2 loss.  Tonight, he’ll look to get back on track after a strong start to the month which has him entering tonight 13-41 (.317) in June with three doubles and three homers. He’ll face Bartolo Colon tonight and is a solid mid-range option in tonight’s rubber game of the three-game set.∗∗∗

High-Value Option: Kelly Johnson-New York Mets (2,200): On the other side of that Mets-Pirates game, Kelly Johnson also makes a nice option if you decide to use 3B as your money-saving spot tonight.  Johnson went 3-5 last night with his first homer since rejoining the Mets.  He has gone 7-17 since joining New York for the second straight season and should continue to get the chance to play due to the Mets res of in juries and his ability to play multiple positions.∗∗∗∗
