FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy baseball lineup-June 16
High Salary OF
Mookie Betts-Boston Red Sox (4,500): Betts is the most expensive play in the outfield tonight but he has hit safely in seven straight games and is 17-52 (.327) this month including a pair of homers and seven RBI. He hasn’t stolen a base in his last five contests but his is a perfect 11-11 when he runs this season.
Tonight, he’ll face Tyler Wilson and the Orioles who he has crushed this season going 18-40 (.450) with six home runs, 12 RBI, and 14 runs scored while posting a bananas 1.463 OPS against Baltimore. Betts will be at the top of the lineup again tonight for Boston so look for some more good production from the speedy but powerful outfielder. ∗∗∗∗
J.D. Martinez-Detroit Tigers (3,700): Martinez had multiple hits in six straight games before going “just” 1-4 last night. Over the last week, he is 13-24 (.542) although he hasn’t connected on a home run during that span.
Martinez will face lefty Danny Duffy tonight who he is just 1-13 against in his career but that one hit was a home run. Martinez has split well against lefties this season, so look for him to reverse his BvP numbers based on his current form. ∗∗∗∗
Jacoby Ellsbury-New York Yankees (3,600): Ells is still hitting just .284 but has picked things up this month going 16-51 (.314) with two doubles, a triple, and a home run. He hasn’t been running as much, but he should be in a place to produce tonight against Kyle Gibson and the Twins. Ellsbury is a solid play although I don’t think his ceiling is as high as Betts or Martinez’s is for tonight’s contests. ∗∗∗
Robbie Grossman-Minnesota Twins (3,600): Grossman had teed off on lefties in his time with the Twins going 13-34 (.382) against them with a pair of homers and four RBI to put up a 1.108 OPS. He has an unsustainable but impressive 1.053 OPS overall and has become a key part of the Twins lineup. He doesn’t have the pedigree of Ellsbury, but tonight against CC Sabathia I think he makes a better play. ∗∗∗∗
Whitt Merrifield-Kansas City Royals (3,400): Merrifield has been tearing it up lately and is 10-27 (.370) over the past week with a pair of doubles and a pair of home runs. He has been thriving in the leadoff spot for the defending Champs and will probably be there again tonight against Justin Verlander and the Tigers. ∗∗∗
