One of the hottest names in the managerial search in recent years, Dave Martinez has been connected to many open jobs recently. However, he has yet to get that opportunity to run his own ball club.

That being said, it is only a matter of time before Joe Maddon’s right hand man gets his job.

Martinez has been Maddon’s bench coach since 2008 with the Tampa Bay Rays. He followed him to the Cubs, and has taken on the same role in Chicago since the beginning of last season.

Similar to Maddon, Martinez is considered a forward-thinking coach who also has a strong rapport with his players. He is arguably the best candidate in baseball to be a manager who has no experience doing so.

Learning under one of the best, Martinez undoubtedly has a bright future as a big league manager. He should be high on the list of candidates if the White Sox decide to move on from Ventura.
