FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy baseball lineup-June 17
First Baseman
High-Salary Option: Edwin Encarnacion-Toronto Blue Jays (4,600): Encarnacion and the Jays are in Baltimore after causing past the Phillies in a pair of games in Philadelphia. Encarnacion hit another long ball last night giving him six home runs in his last six games and is 11-27 (.391) with three doubles and 15 RBI as well over the past week. He and the Blue Jays are starting to mash the ball like many predicted, so get him in your lineup if you have the money to spend. ∗∗∗∗
High-Salary Option: David Ortiz-Boston Red Sox (4,300): Big Papi keeps doing work going 2-4 last night with a double and a home run in the Red Sox loss to Baltimore. He has continues to crush the ball and is 10-26 (.385) over the last week and has an OPS of 1.138 on the season.
His opponent tonight, Hisashi Iwakuma has had some trouble with lefties this season, so look for Ortiz to have another strong game to finish out the work week. ∗∗∗∗
Mid-range Option: Chris Davis-Baltimore Orioles (3,600): Davis feasts on Toronto starter Aaron Sanchez which should make him a good mid-range play tonight. Davis is 6-10 in his career against Sanchez with three homers and four RBI. Davis is 9-28 in his last eight games and started that stretch with five straight games with a homer. He should be in a place to produce more power for your lineup tonight, but there is risk since his average (.226) is still unimpressive∗∗
Mid-range Option: Joe Mauer-Minnesota Twins (3,200): Mauer took the night off last night against lefty CC Sabathia, but he should be back in the lineup looking to extend his hitting streak to seven games as he takes on Tanaka and the Yankees. Mayer is 8-27 (.296) this month and still in search of his first hit off of Tanaka. ∗∗
High-Value Option: Adam Lind-Seattle Mariners (2,800): Lind knows the confines of Fenway Park well from his years in Toronto. He was a bit of a Red Sox killer before he left and went 22-69 (.319) with four homers in his last three seasons coming to Boston as a member of Toronto. He’ll face a former Mariner tonight as he takes on Roenis Elias, and I think the Mariners should be able to put up good numbers which will make him a nice cheap option under 3K.
