Third Baseman

High-Salary Option: Josh Donaldson-Toronto Blue Jays (4,300): Donaldson continues to crush the ball and has gone 12-26 (.462) over the last week with four doubles, two homers, and nine RBI.  He is now hitting .362 on the month after going 3-3 with a pair of walks last night.

Donaldson is pretty pricey today, but the way he’s hitting its easy to see why someone would want to squeeze his hefty 4,700 salary onto their roster.

Mid-range Option: Kyle Seager-Seattle Mariners (3,600): Seager is a Red Sox killer who has gone 34-84 (.405) against Boston over the last three seasons with six homers and a crazy 1.123 OPS. Tonight, he and the Mariners face their former teammate Roenis Elias as they open their series at Fenway.

Seager is a risky option since he has struggled over the last week going just 4-22 (.182). He does have three homers in his last six games, though, so a trip to Fenway could be just what he needs to get his bat heated up.∗∗

Mid-range Option: Matt Duffy-San Francisco Giants (3,200): Duffy has has his struggles hitting on the road this season (15-115, .130), but he has been heating up lately which is enough to give him a look tonight against Chris Archer and the Rays.  Duffy is 9-23 in the last week including his third homer of the season.  He has collected three hits in two of his last three games and hit safely in eight of his last nine. Duffy doesn’t bring much power, but he hits for a good enough average that he gets to bat in the middle of the Giants lineup.∗∗∗

High-Value Option: Jhonny Peralta-St. Louis Cardinals (2,600): Peralta has hit safely in each of his starts this season and is 10-32 (.313) since rejoining the Cardinals and creating a logjam in the infield.  He has been productive enough to get more playing time, but make sure he’s in the lineup since the Cardinals have several good infield options right now.

Peralta missed the first few months of the season with a thumb injury, but he has hit well l since his return adding three doubles and a home run.  He and the Cards get Cole Helms tonight, who Peralta is 4-11 against in his career with three doubles.∗∗∗∗
