Philadelphia Eagles long snapper Jon Dorenbos will appear on an upcoming episode of ‘America’s Got Talent’ where he’ll display his abilities as a magician.
According to Molly Eichel of Philly.com, Philadelphia Eagles long snapper, Jon Dorenbos will appear on an upcoming episode of ‘America’s Got Talent’. Not only does Dorenbos play in the NFL, but he will show the world his talents as a slight of hand magician. His episode will air on Tuesday at 8:00 PM ET.
Dorenbos discovered the joy of magic when he was 12 as a coping mechanism. When Dorenbos was an adolescent, his father was found guilty of killing his mother in a court of law. Dorenbos has practiced magic ever since.
He appeared in a 2014 episode of Bryant Gumbel’s show on HBO “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel” talking about how magic helped him get through the biggest tragedy of his childhood. Dorenbos said in the episode that a friend of his started showing him some magic tricks during “the darkest time of [his] life.”
Dorenbos has played 13 seasons in the NFL since going undrafted back in 2003 out of the University of Texas at El Paso. He has played with three NFL teams including the Buffalo Bills (2003-04) and the Tennessee Titans (2005-06).
Dorenbos has been the long snapper for the Eagles since the 2006 NFL season, making two trips to the Pro Bowl as a special teams player in 2009 and 2014. Entering the 2016 NFL season, Dorenbos is now the longest tenured player on the Eagles, playing under Andy Reid (2006-12), Chip Kelly (2013-15), and now under first-year head coach Doug Pederson, formerly on Reid’s staff with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The 35-year-old long snapper of the Eagles has been practicing and performing magic for over 23 years. He’s performed in both Hollywood and Las Vegas, so putting on a show for people like Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel shouldn’t be a big deal for a football player that has already overcome so much.
