High Salary OF

Mookie Betts-Boston Red Sox (4,200): Betts hasn’t been the reason for the Red Sox recent lack of runs and has gone 9-25 (.360) over the last week including two doubles and yesterday’s game-winning home run which was his 15th long ball of the season.  Betts raised his average to .295 on the year with his 3-5 day yesterday and will look to keep things rolling tonight against he White Sox.

Betts is hitting .311 at Fenway this year, but he is just 3-14 (.214) in his career against Miguel Gonzalez who gets the start for the White Sox tonight.

Mark Trumbo-Batlimore Orioles (3,600): If you’re an owner who puts stock in batter vs. pitcher stats, Trumbo is a must-own tonight.  He has absolutely crushed Derek Holland in his career going 14-45 (.311) against him in their past meetings with three doubles and five homers to help him to a 1.065 OPS against the Dutch Oven.

Trumbo has cooled off a bit after starting the month red-hot and he has not homered in any of his last ten games.  However, at this price with his history against Holland he’s hard to overlook.∗∗∗

Seth Smith-Seattle Mariners (3,600): Smith went 3-3 on Saturday to raise his average for the season to a healthy .265.  He has six homers and 25 RBI in his 59 games for Seattle but usually sits against southpaws.  Tonight, though, he should be back in the lineup against the Tigers especially since he is 7-17 (.412) with two doubles, a triple, a home run, and four walks against Detroit starter Mike Pelfrey. The only reason I don’t like Smith more than two stars tonight is that he is a little bit pricey.

Justin Upton-Detroit Tigers (3,400): The Tigers need Upton to pick things up with J.D. Martinez out for a few weeks, and the Detroit slugger is showing signs of coign to life after a brutal start to the season.  Upton is 9-29 (.310) over the last week with two homers and 11 RBI which has brought his still-disappointing batting average to .234 for the season. Tonight, Upton could be a nice mid-range play since he is 3-3 in his career against Seattle starter Nathan Karns and could be starting to heat up.
