NBA Rumors: 5 draft day trades Denver Nuggets should make
3. Trade back
The Nuggets could also be looking at this draft and saying “meh.” It is really not one of the best classes in recent years. It has been mentioned as being a two-player class in terms of star potential, but it has also been called a two-tier draft. The top two players are in a tier, and players three through eight are in a tier. Picking at number seven, if there is one or two players they did not like from that three through eight tier they could be stuck staring down a player they do not have interest in.
At that point they may see a sleeper who they could draft at pick seven and be questioned, or they can trade down a few slots and take him along with gained assets.
The Celtics and Suns are teams being talked about when it comes to trading up into the top ten. The Suns hold pick 13 and 28 in this year’s first round. The Celtics hold pick 16 and 23. They also both have a couple of younger role players, TJ Warren, Archie Goodwin, RJ Hunter, James Young and a few more could be listed from these two teams. The Nuggets could hold four picks from 15-23 this year and acquire a bench role player or two in the process.
They may not land the star of their dreams to make everything better, but they could really have one heck of a collection of young talent all the way down their roster as they move towards the future.
It would also give them plenty of pieces to package together for a bigger name, and Faried, Barton and Gallinari would be even more expendable.
