Most memorable NBA Draft moments ever
By Justin
Jalen Rose’s attire, 1994
NBA draft outfits have a notorious reputation, but it’s only because of a select few. Jalen Rose was one of the infamous few. He wore a red-striped suit accented by a white shirt underneath and a white Nuggets cap. He looked more like Bart Simpson than a future millionaire.
There are a number of other notable outfits, of course. There’s the time Joakim Noah wore all white and buried his giant hair under a hat for one of the best draft photos of all-time. Or when Bonzi Wells looked like two people stuffed inside one strangely wide suit. Or when Drew Gooden wore a suit one would describe as “backwards looking” and “Dr. Evil inspired.” And, really, I’ll never tire of impossibly tall people stuffing their large hair under a hat, like when Robin Lopez conjured Sideshow Bob when he was picked by Phoenix.
Unfortunately, the draft day suits have been improving in recent years due to increased visibility and the ghosts of past failures haunting new draftees, although there has been a color-clad resurgence. But it takes only one iconoclast to brush aside criticism from his peers and suggestions from his family and don a suit one would only see on a groomsman at a tacky wedding from the 90’s. Let’s hope it happens again for 2016.
