5. Derrick Rose for Jeff Teague

Sometimes a fresh start is something that can benefit a player. In this case it would benefit the star point guards from Chicago and Atlanta. Derrick Rose and Jeff Teague are in familiar positions. Two PG’s who used to be the the “guy” and now is on the outside looking in. Derek Rose is always injured in the eyes of Bull’s fans and Jeff Teague has been outplayed by Dennis Schroder. Both of these PG”s are also free agents next off season.

They had similar numbers this year as well. D-Rose averaged 16.4 points and just over four dimes a game. Teague dropped 15.7 a game while dishing out 5.9 assists. The fact that both of them are on a contract year would make this deal easier  for both teams.

Both squads wouldn’t have to swallow a massive contract or be stuck with them long term and theses players know what it takes to be part of a successful team. Each have played deep into the playoffs and been to Eastern Conference finals. Point guards flourishing on a contract year isn’t something new and one example is Rajon Rondo. He was labeled as a head-case and someone incredibly tough to coach. He performed at a very high leve this seasonl, dishing out a career high 11.7 assists while chipping in with just over 11 points a game.

This trade would be great for Chicago because Teague is a system guy and can adapt to Fred Hoiberg’s run and gun style. He won’t have the pressure of a young guy trying to steal the spotlight with Chicago being a great place for the Wake Forest product.
