FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy baseball lineup-June 22
Catcher
High-Salary Option: Buster Posey-San Francisco Giants (3,800): Posey went 204 last night against the Pirates after taking the collar in Monday’s DFS. He had double, RBI, and two runs scored last night to bounce back with 21.9 fantasy points. He has over 20 fantasy points in four of his last eight games, and he’s a solid pick to produce again tonight against lefty Francisco Liriano. Posey’s splits show a slight preference to facing lefties and he is 5-14 against Liriano in their previous meetings. He’s an expensive play tonight costing over $500 more than other options, but he does have upside after going 8-23 (.348) over the past week.∗∗∗
Mid-range Option: Victor Martinez-Detroit Tigers (3,000): V-Mart keeps raking and is hitting .325 on the season after going 1-4 in last night’s win. He has a great career history against tonight’s starter Hisashi Iwakuma coming in 6-12 against him with a double and a pair of home runs. Martinez will look to continue his dominance of the matchup tonight as the Tigers look to take the third of their four-game set with Seattle.∗∗∗∗
Mid-range Option: Yan Gomes-Cleveland Indians (2,600): Gomes has hit safely in four straight games going 6-16 with a pair of doubles. Even that recent flurry of success has only raised his average to .184 for the season, but he looks like he may finally be coming around. Tonight, he’ll face the Rays’ Chris Archer who he is 2-5 against in his career with a homer and a walk. Gomes is a better hitter than he has shown so far this season, and he looks like he’s starting to get his swing back to a better place.∗∗∗∗
High-Value Option: Christian Vazquez-Boston Red Sox (2,200): The best cheap play at catcher tonight is Christian Vazquez who has a pair of multi-hit games in his last three starts after getting off to a slow start to the month of June. Vazquez took the night off last night against Chris Sale, but he’ll be back behind the plate tonight and is actually hitting lefties (6-25, .240) a little bit better than righties so far this season. The Red Sox offense has been sputtering a bit, but they could definitely get things turned around tonight as they continue their homestand.∗∗
