First Baseman

High-Salary Option: Chris Davis-Baltimore Orioles (4,200): There are three top options at 1B tonight, and the one I like the most is the O’s Chris Davis since Ortiz is against a lefty and Cabrera’s production has been spotty.

Davis has gone 8-26 (.308) over the las week with three doubles but no homers.  That could turn around tonight as he faces Erik Johnson and the Padres at home in Baltimore.  Johnson has allowed multiple homers in all four of his starts this season and comes into tonight with a 7.50 ERA.  Since the O’s are countering Johnson with Ubaldo Jimenez, I expect there to be plenty of runs on the scoreboard tonight in Baltimore.∗∗∗∗

Mid-range Option: Wil Myers-San Diego Padres (3,800): If you can’t afford Davis, I wouldn’t go too far to find an alternative since Wil Myers is a good play on the other side of the same matchup.  Myers has been impressive this month going 27-75 (.360) with eight doubles and nine homers while driving in 23 runs.  If he didn’t play for San Diego, Myers would probably be getting more publicity (and a higher DFS price), so take advantage of his affordable price tonight against Jimenez.∗∗∗∗∗

Mid-range Option: Joe Mauer-Minnesota Twins (2,800): Mauer is a nice bargain at 2,800 against Adam Morgan and the Phillies tonight.  Mayer went 2-5 last night in the Twins 14-10 win and is hitting .279 this year with seven homers, 26 RBI and 30 runs scored. When the Twins lineup is productive like it should be again tonight, Mauer is usually right in the middle of the scoring.∗∗∗

High-Value Option: David Freese-Pittsburgh Pirates  (2,500): Freese went 2-5 last night against the Giants with a double, homer, and three RBI for a big 31.7 fantasy points. He is hitting .293 (12-41) so far this month with five doubles and a pair of homers, so he’s a solid value play if he continues to be a regular in the middle of the Pirates lineup tonight.
