High Salary OF

Ian Desmond-Texas Rangers (4,200): Desmond has hit safely in four straight and seven of his last eight games while going 9-25 (.360) over the last week and 28-79 (.354) so far this month.  He has four homers already this month as well, and is a huge part of the Rangers recent run of success.

Tonight, he’ll face Dan Straily for the first time in his career, but he’s hot enough and hitting well enough at home (.970 OPS) that he’s worth a look even though his price has now risen over 4K.

Adam Jones-Batlimore Orioles (3,900): Since I expect there to be plenty of fireworks tonight at Camden Yards, I like Jones to be a part of the action as he faces Erik Johnson. Jones is 23-88 (.261) with eight homers and 20 RBI this month, and he’ll need to continue to pick up the slack while Manny Machado finishes serving his suspension. ∗∗∗

Rajai Davis-Cleveland Indians (3,600): Davis got the night off last night, but he should be back at the top of the Tribe lineup tonight against Chris Archer.  Davis is 2-7 in his career against Archer with an RBI and a pair of walks.

The main reason to give Davis a long look tonight, though, is he has been red hot going 7-15 over the last week with a homer, two doubles, and six stolen bases.  He has picked up 21 steals on the year and scored 35 runs in his 63 games.  The Indians are rolling right now and Davis is where it all starts at the top of their lineup.

Odubel Herrera-Philadelphia Phillies (3,500): A cheaper option with many of the same traits as Rajai Davis, Herrera usually leads off for the Phils and will likely do so again tonight against Kyle Gibson.  Herrera stole two bases last night while going 2-4 to raise his average to .305 for the season.  He has hit safely in four straight and will look to continue to be one of the few bright spots in Philadelphia so far this season.

Andrew McCutchen-Pittsburgh Pirates (3,300): Cutch is still dragging at the plate hitting just .238 on the season despite being a .294 career hitter.  He has had a few good games recently, but has gone 0-6 in the first two games of the Pirates’ series against the Giants.  He was 0-3 with three strikeouts yesterday, but he could be set up to bounce back since he has good career numbers against Jeff Samardzija coming into tonight’s game 13-32 (.406) with five doubles and five walks in their past meetings.
