5. Arms like toothpicks

The height, length and athleticism of Brandon Ingram are all fantastic and desirable traits in the NBA. However, the one physical trait that most obviously doesn’t go with the others when it comes to the Duke product is his strength. You can just look at the frame of the still-18-year-old and see that he doesn’t have the strength just yet to not get bullied at times at the NBA level.

In fairness, Ingram is far from the first prospect to have this problem and there are even several players in the 2016 draft class alone that fit the bill as well. Hell, Kevin Durant coming out of Texas could be mentioned in that conversation as well and it seems like things might turned out just fine for him in the NBA. However, it hurts Ingram as a projected top-two pick because of how he looks when stacked up next to Ben Simmons in this regard.

As far as having an NBA-ready body goes, Simmons has had that since he was about 17 years old. The Australian forward is incredibly filled out and strong for a player his age and you can see the stark contrast between him and Ingram at just one glance. Though it’s not truly an indicator of success, that hurt Ingram and is Reason 1 why he won’t be going first overall.
