LSU. Ben Simmons . 1. player. 93. Ben Simmons was a man-child at LSU during his freshman season and now he’s likely the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft. The Philadelphia 76er fans and front office needn’t look much further than the NBA Finals to see the importance of acquiring a valuable asset like Simmons. Simmons is the archetype point-forward and at 6-10, 240 pounds also possesses the ability to head down into the post and bang with the big boys.

His lateral foot speed and athletic ability will allow Coach Brown to utilize him in pick-and-rolls both on offense and on the defensive end. Simmons finished his only year at LSU with ludicrous averaged of 19.2 points, 11.9 rebounds and 4.8 assists and just a hair under 30 (29.9) for his PER. Those are the type of averages we might have seen from LeBron James had he gone the NCAA route before the NBA draft and yet somehow there’s an argument against Simmons as the No. 1 pick.

This is billed as a two-man draft and in hindsight, I think we might end up viewing it as a franchise-changing draft. But that will only be for one team — the one who selects Simmons.
