C. Croatia. Ivica Zubac . 21. player. 125. The Atlanta Hawks are in a state of flux right now. Al Horford and Kent Bazemore are both free agents, and are both integral parts of the franchise as it stands today. On top of that, there multiple rumors that the team will move Jeff Teague — possibly today — and roll with Dennis Schroder as the point guard of the future. All things considered, they could use some big man insurance by selecting Ivica Zubac.

Zubac is only 19-years old, standing 7-1 and though the league is getting “smaller”, size still isn’t teachable and holds value for NBA clubs. Zubac has a lot of work to complete before he’s able to respectably be thrown into an NBA rotation, but the makings of a solid player are already present. He’s shown adaptability as he played for three separate international clubs during the 2015-16 season, mostly due to financial instability and lack of playing time. He has solid footwork in the post and on the perimeter — in short bursts — which give him the fundamentals to become a valuable center down the road.

Most 19-year olds aren’t ready to contribute right away and Zubac fits that mold as well. His assimilation to the NBA won’t likely go as smoothly as say Jonas Valaciunas, but if he’s able to develop into a Valaciunas-type player, then this is a potential homerun for the Hawks at No. 21.
