18. Kris Dunn might be the most complete guard in this draft in terms of contributing right away — on both ends of the floor. The prevailing thought is that the Boston Celtics — if they keep the pick — go with Dragan Bender here, but Dunn is an intriguing option; even for a team chalked full of great wings. Dunn is already 22-years old but has worked extremely hard to raise the level of his game to the point where he’s a legit top-5 selection.

Last season for Providence the 6-4 guard averaged 16.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 6.2 assists as the team’s best player. His teammate Ben Bentil is likely a second round pick in today’s draft, so he had some help too. Dunn is an explosive guard who isn’t afraid of any big moments, always wanting the ball when the ball is on the line. On top of that, he excels on the defensive side of the ball and projects to be quite the pest on that end as a pro.

The Celtics already have Isaiah Thomas, Avery Bradley, Marcus Smart and Terry Rozier (last year’s 1st round pick) in their backcourt, but if Danny Ainge and Brad Stevens want the best player available, then they could easily pull the trigger on Dunn here. If this is the pick, then one can assume one, or two, of their current guards could be on the move, or Dunn himself could be moved as to another suitor as well. The C’s have a ton of options today as they hold eight picks!
