NBA Draft: Every team’s best pick ever
By Daniel Lewis
Toronto Raptors: Chris Bosh, No. 4, 2003 NBA Draft
After spending one season at Georgia Tech, the Toronto Raptors selected Bosh with the fourth overall pick in the 2013 draft. While he didn’t earn the individual recognition of his fellow 2003 draftmates like Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James, Bosh became the face of the franchise after Vince Carter was traded. He helped them win their first division title in 2007, and by the time he left Toronto in 2010, was the leader in nearly every statistical category.
He began his career primarily as an interior player piling up points with his low-post scoring. Over the years, Bosh has evolved into a deadly pick-and-pop player with a range on his jumper out to the three-point line. His defensive development has been at least as impressive, and his ability to defend inside and out has made him one of the most versatile defenders in the league today.
In the end, Bosh may be remembered more for his time with the Miami Heat — after next season will he have played as many seasons in Miami as he did in Toronto. Bosh has won two rings, both with the Heat alongside Wade and LeBron. Still, he was a beacon of up for the Toronto Raptors when he arrived, revitalizing a franchise that was understandably discouraged by the sour ending with Vince Carter.
