Brandon Ingram. 2. player. 20. . F. Los Angeles Lakers

Brandon Ingram gives the Los Angeles Lakers a lot of hope. Despite all the hype that Ben Simmons had before he even played a game for LSU, Ingram gave him a real run for his money as the No. 1 pick based on his season at Duke. He had the benefit of playing under Mike Krzyzewski, and exploded for 17.3 points in his only season at college.

The Lakers were the worst three-point shooting team in the league last year, but that’s expected to change. They no longer have Kobe Bryant throwing up bricks, and Luke Walton has two seasons of running the Warriors’ system under his belt. And that’s not to mention that Ingram boasted 41% rate from three-point range. That’s not the only strength he boasted last season – he averaged nearly 7 rebounds, and recorded eight double-doubles.

Ingram’s strong three-point shooting will make him a favorite of Luke Walton’s. And with Kobe retired, he could integrate himself right into the starting lineup with a young core that won’t be as inclined on playing hero ball as they used to be.

It’s about time that things started going the Lakers’ way. If Brandon Ingram wins the Rookie of the Year, a lot of faith will be restored in the Lakers’ fanbase, and watching the young core play under a winning system could attract some big names going forward.
