One reason Kevin Durant should consider every NBA team

Houston Rockets – Getting the band back together (sort of)

Kevin Durant and James Harden are friends. Durant did not seem particularly pleased when his current team, the Oklahoma City Thunder, parted ways with Harden via trade a handful of years ago, and now, Durant has the ability to “right that wrong”.

Harden is one of the best offensive players in the NBA, averaging 27.0 points and 6.6 assists per game over a four-season sample in Houston. While it isn’t always aesthetically pleasing, the talented guard is also quite efficient, posting a 60.5% true shooting over that same time frame, and he would obviously be a strong complement to Durant in the long-term given his age (26).

Defensively, Harden is less than spectacular (to be quite kind) but Houston has a number of talented pieces around him, with the flexibility to add more. The Rockets also have a dynamic coach in Mike D’Antoni (can you imagine this offense?!) and a quality general manager in Daryl Morey, which could ease Durant’s mind when it comes to team building.

Finally, Houston plays in a big market and this is an established high-end franchise that has competed for titles in the recent past. It may not be the perfect landing spot for Kevin Durant, but it is a real option.
