DeMarcus Cousins says controversial NBA Draft tweet was ‘bad timing’
A poorly-timed tweet from Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins got him in hot water during the 2016 NBA Draft, and the star player finally gave some reasoning for it.
The Sacramento Kings had an interesting 2016 NBA Draft. They held the No. 8 pick, but traded down to No. 13, which was held by the Phoenix Suns, and acquired other picks. With the No. 13 pick, they selected Greek center Georgios Papagiannis, which stunned everyone because he was projected to go in the second round or be undrafted. The Kings later drafted fellow center Skal Labissiere to add to the core of DeMarcus Cousins, Kosta Koufos, and Willie Cauley-Stein.
Well, around the time the Kings picked Papagiannis, Cousins sent out this tweet, which quickly went viral.

After four days of no explanation, Cousins called it “bad timing”, according to Ian Begley of ESPN.
“Bad timing” due to being in a “hot sculpting class” is the last thing anyone could have expected. Boogie Cousins is known for the interesting things he says and does, so maybe this isn’t such a big surprise.
However, whether or not he was telling the truth here is something that probably won’t be known. So if DeMarcus Cousins really did have a problem with the Kings now rostering five centers that could take his playing time, then we could find out as the offseason continues.
